We have pleasure in confirming details of our latest regional meeting for careers teachers and education advisers in the North East. This will take place at Northumbria University, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, NE1 8ST on Thursday, 6th June 2019.

Lunch is at 12.30 followed by presentations at 13.30, finishing around 15.30. There is an optional campus tour from 11.30 to 12.30. Please indicate on the application form if you would like to attend this as well.

A work placement provides a valuable and increasingly essential opportunity to gain an insight into the world of work and prepare students for its realities.

We are delighted to have a speaker from Northumbria University and also a student who has benefitted from a placement year with the EDT (Engineering Development Trust) Year in Industry scheme and is now in the first year of her degree course.

Northumbria’s strong links with a wide range of organisations, from local to international, means they can include placements on many of their degree courses to ensure students graduate with the skills recruiters are looking for.

The EDT delivers over 40,000 STEM experiences each year, for young people aged 9 -21 across the UK and their range of work related learning schemes provide opportunities for young people to enhance their technical, personal and employability skills through industry-led projects, industrial placements and specialised taster courses.
