This half day course has been developed specifically to help and support heads of careers, directors of KS3, year tutors and others who have particular responsibilities for organising careers education and guidance for pupils in the lower secondary (pre-GCSE) years.

The course will cover:

  • A brief overview of careers education and guidance principles, policy and practice
  • An examination of the rationale for careers work pre -14 and what constitutes an appropriate balance of careers education and careers guidance
  • Practical ideas for careers work in years 7, 8 and 9
  • An introduction to Probe, a fully illustrated online programme for use in the classroom with pupils in Years 8 and 9
